A Little About Me

Hi! I’m Chantal. I am a therapist in Toronto, Canada, and I have been specializing in trauma, self-esteem, anxiety, depression & nervous system regulation since 2005. To say that I love what I do feels like a really big understatement.

"I have been lucky enough to work with Chantal since 2016 and cannot thank her enough for her skills, dedication to my growth and wellbeing. Her care, warmth and clinical skills are exceptional" -Monica F.

Many of us go through really hard things that make us feel lost and stuck in a downward spiral, and finding the right therapist can help us to cope and heal. I am an integrative therapist, which mean that I draw on several evidence-based therapies & weave them together. Healing from trauma and deep emotional wounds requires a very integrative approach, as it impacts our nervous system, our bodies, our thoughts, our emotions and our connections to others. We get the most healing when we address all of these. As one model does not fit all, I like to explore with my clients what fits best for them. Some of the therapy modalities that I love most are Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy.

I have training in Mindfulness, Yoga, body-centred therapy approaches, as well as in more traditional forms of talk therapy.

The therapeutic relationship fosters connection, safety and compassion. I like to think of it as a safe place to land where we can explore ourselves and heal the parts of us that are suffering. I offer a free 15-minute consult to those in Ontario interested in working with me.

Testimonials

After working with Chantal and taking her self-esteem course, I finally feel like I'm on the road to discovering self-compassion. I have spent many years struggling to get out of bed in the morning because my self-worth was so low.

I thought it was as "simple" as depression but I quickly began to understand the negative messages that were deeply anchored in me that were causing me to want to hide in my bed all day. Understanding parts work has given me the ability to name what I have been struggling with for so long and have the tools to overcome self-esteem crashes much quicker. I am getting to a point with the support of Chantal where I am not as afraid of my emotions.

I feel stronger to allow them knowing I am safe and will be ok because I am understanding the parts of me that are in play. It is still a journey and I am still working through re-framing the messages that are engrained in my neural pathways but with the tools I have from understanding my parts and the nervous system work that I also learned in the course, I am feeling so much stronger, more compassionate towards myself, and my mornings are becoming brighter.

When the darkness settles in, because life is not perfect, I know I have the tools to help me, and I am forever grateful to Chantal for helping me get to this point.

I had done therapy for a few years before meeting Chantal, and I have gotten to this point in only a few months since starting the course and having her support. So so grateful!!!"

Chantal is the first therapist after many therapists over 30 years to help me understand and value myself. She reminded me the other week that I told her I hated myself in one of our first sessions. Chantal always talks about my relationship with myself. I used to say Blah-Blah-Blah. That sounded so out there to me when I started therapy. Now, I cherish my relationship with myself and I am my own friend. Chantal, you are the best,

I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with Chantal for a decade. It has been the single most helpful thing for my mental health over the years. She is an incredible listener and has a way of helping to guide me into a place of self-compassion and self-understanding. We recently dove deeper into what Chantal calls "parts work" and it has been transformational to my relationship with myself and also my patience for my loved ones. I am grateful for the opportunity to have such a solid support system with Chantal and know that I will continue therapy with her for years to come. Chantal is extremely knowledgeable and often references authors or other professionals in the field to help me understand certain things. She has a really good sense of how the brain and body works and I always learn from her. She is truly a warm, safe, compassionate and skilled therapist.

Chantal came into my life when I was first starting to sort of wake up to myself and address my mental health. She was one of the first people who I felt I could trust and who really understood me. I feel so lucky to have had such a smart, supportive and truly caring person to help guide me through some very dark and challenging times. I learned so much about myself through our sessions and there isn’t a day where I am not using the tools and ideas that she shared with me. I feel eternally grateful to Chantal for her wisdom and compassion over the years. I really feel like she showed me the way to who I truly am. And for me that is the greatest gift. Thank you for all that you do Chantal and I really hope that you continue on with your online content so you can spread your wisdom to the world! With love, G.

Therapy

One of the things I am most grateful for in this life is my choice to become a therapist. I have now been practicing therapy for half of my life. And there is a wisdom that comes with being trusted to enter into the experience of so many humans over the years.

I am always learning and will consider myself a student for life. What I do know for sure is that everything makes sense with context. And when we have the capacity to get curious and to notice what is happening with compassion and perspective, that is where the healing begins.
